Bsc Hons Business Management

Holders of the Baccalauréat de l’Enseignement Secondaire are not normally eligible for direct entry onto our undergraduate programmes without completion of a suitable foundation programme, such as one of our foundation pathways. The first year will provide you with a solid foundation in business and management theory and practice. In your second and third years you can tailor your studies through a wide range of option modules, allowing you to build expertise in a particular field of business and prepare for your chosen career path. Our BSc in Business Management is designed to develop your understanding of management techniques and the forces at work in business.

This course has the option of studying abroad as part of your degree in your second semester of second year. The University’s Placement and Work Experience Team are experts at helping you to secure a placement. They will work closely with you from the start, helping you research potential employers, discover placement opportunities, create and pitch your CV, and will coach you to perform well in interviews.

Studying abroad is a fantastic opportunity to gain an insight into the global business dimension, and the cultures and languages of the individual markets we deal with. However, you may be required to travel to the King’s Buildings if you are studying courses in Science and Engineering. It is also possible to choose one or two Honours courses in other subject areas from other schools, subject to meeting the pre-requisite requirements, availability and timetabling constraints.

This module aims to develop the marketing knowledge and skills to manage in any organisation with intercultural contacts. You’ll showcase your understanding of marketing management through a marketing plan based on real case studies. We accept a wide variety of qualifications and welcome applications from students of all backgrounds. In your first year you will study international business, accounting, finance, marketing, mathematics and statistics. This will give you a solid foundation to build on, whichever aspect of business or management you choose to focus on later.

You will develop your research and analytical skills and learn to understand the importance of research, digital information management and corporate social responsibility in business decision-making. You’ll continue to develop your personal leadership skills and learn how to demonstrate these to potential employers. This means that compulsory modules provide you with the core knowledge and skills that you need, while optional and discovery modules allow you to shape your course to suit your personal interests and career aspirations.
